The Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation identifies with and fully supports the statement issued by the King siblings...
On July 21, 2025, 3:30 PM ET, the presidential administration released 243,496 pages in 6301 files, along with one audio file, related to the April 4, 1968, assassination of Dr. King. This release resulted from Executive Order 14176, Declassification of Records Concerning the Assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on January 23, 2025, ordering the release of these records for public consumption. In addition, on July 21, 2025, Martin Luther King, III, and the Rev. Dr. Bernice King, Dr. King’s two living children, issued a statement regarding this release, which can be viewed here.
The Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation identifies with and fully supports the statement issued by the King siblings and further calls on all of us to redouble our efforts toward building a more just union and a more beloved community.
As we continue our review of the documents in this release, we will do so with deep respect for the privacy of the King children and family in mind.
Thank you.
