The 2026 MLK Labor & Community Breakfast, proudly hosted by the NorcalMLK Foundation and the San Francisco Labor Council, serves as a poignant tribute to the profound intersection of labor and community collaboration in the ongoing fight for civil rights and workers' rights. This annual gathering brings together a distinguished assembly of leaders from various spheres: labor, civic, political, business, and community, converging with individuals from all walks of life.
At the heart of this event lies the annual Martin Luther King Address and the presentation of the esteemed The NorcalMLK 2026 Honorable Willie B Kennedy Civic Service Award.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Reflection provides a space for contemplation and inspiration, delving into the significance of Dr. King's legacy in the context of our contemporary world. The 2026 address will be delivered by The Rev. Dr. Angela D. Sims, Ph.D., president of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, New York, the alma mater of Dr. King. She is the 2026 president-elect of the American Academy of Religion and the author of Ethical Complications of Lynching; Ida B. Wells’s Interrogation of American Terror (New York: Palgrave MacMillan, 2010) and co-editor of Womanist Theological Ethics: A Reader (Louisville, KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011). Dr. Sims is a graduate (summa cum laude) of Washington DC's Trinity College and Howard University School of Divinity, where she was awarded her Master of Divinity degree. She received her Ph.D. from Union Presbyterian Seminary.1
