Held at the historic New Road Baptist Church in Oxford, The Black Theology Consultation gathers preachers, professors, and practitioners for an evening centered on how Black and Womanist theologies can serve—and be served by—the church.

Co-hosted by the NorcalMLK Foundation and the Centre for Black Theology at Regent’s Park College, the evening blends scholarship and song, testimony and theological inquiry. With featured guests including Dr. Dwight Hopkins, Dr. Andrea C. White, Dr. Raymond Carr, and Dr. Aaron Grizzell, the event shifts the spotlight from theory to practice. Through storytelling, music by Bernett Mulungo, and dialogue with local pastors, participants will explore how liberative theology transforms preaching, Bible study, and congregational life. Beyond abstract discourse, the evening centers real questions of faith: How do we preach sermons that liberate? How does sacred music move beyond emotional uplift to spiritual resistance? How might Bible study reshape itself through the lens of Black experience? This is not just a consultation. It’s a call to practice, to presence, and to prophetic engagement.

These sessions will be livestreamed and also be available on-demand at NorcalMLK's Youtube channel.
