The NorcalMLK Foundation’s International Colloquium Series arrives at King’s College London for a transformative event titled The Meaning of Community in an Age of Uncertainty.

This intellectual gathering explores how religious thought can respond to the fractured social, political, and spiritual landscapes of today’s world. Featuring leading voices in theology, music, ethics, and womanist thought, the colloquium seeks to understand how diverse communities might reimagine unity and care amidst global unrest.

The morning session (10:30 AM – 12:30 PM) offers three powerful lenses. Dr. Dwight Hopkins, the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Professor at the University of Chicago, and Dr. Susannah Ticciati, Professor of Theology at King's College London, deliver theological reflections; Dr. Raymond Carr, president of the Society for the Study of Black Religion, and Dr. Alexander Douglas, Lecturer in Music Education at King's College London, explore community through the lens of musicality; and Drs. Andrea White, Associate Professor of Theology and Culture at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, and Dr. Aaron Grizzell, Executive Director of the Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation, confront womanist and ethical dimensions of belonging and justice.

After a midday lunch and fellowship, the afternoon session (2:15 PM – 4:15 PM) invites deeper engagement through an extended presentation and moderated discussion with the presenters. Together, these sessions affirm that theological and artistic traditions remain vital for cultivating hope, solidarity, and critical resistance in uncertain times.

These sessions will be livestreamed and also be available on-demand at NorcalMLK's Youtube channel.
