The marquee event of the celebration day brings our theme to life and features an exciting program of talent and personalities in honor of the life of Dr. King.
The MLK2023 Celebration Program will feature a presentation on the State of California's historic Reparations legislation by the leaders charged with developing the guidelines and identifying the reparation formulas. The important presentation will be led by the Hon. Sheryl Davis, executive director of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, and Eric McDonnell, chair of San Francisco's African American Reparations Advisory Committee, with special guests, civil rights attorney Areva Martin and the Rev. Amos C. Brown, vice chair of the California State Reparations Task Force.
The program will also include spoken word performance by San Francisco's Poet Laureate, Tongo Eisen-Martin.
