ICS Europe2025 Regent's Park College-University of Oxford International Black Theology Symposium

The International Black Theology Symposium, part of the International Colloquium Series, brings prophetic, creative, and deeply grounded theological voices to one of the most elite institutions in the world.

The International Black Theology Symposium—presented by The Centre for Black Theology in partnership with the NorcalMLK Foundation’s International Colloquium Series—creates space for critical engagement with the past, present, and future of Black and Womanist theology. Presided over by Dr. Anthony Reddie, the University of Oxford's Professor of Black Theology, this high-level symposium includes leading thinkers: Professor Dwight Hopkins on the historical lineage of Black theology, Dr. Aaron Grizzell on the spiritual legacy of Thurman and King, Dr. Andrea White on Womanist theological method, and Dr. Raymond Carr on the role of beauty and sound in theology. The symposium is especially aimed at Oxford faculty and postgraduates in theology and religion, serving both as an academic engagement and a theological invitation. It offers a rare chance to place Oxford’s nascent engagement with Black theology within a broader, global movement for theological transformation.
