BCAF's Sunday Conversations at the San Francisco's Yerba Center for the Arts, will return to a series of engaging and important, in-person conversations for 2023 with best-selling writers and award-winning comic artists. Conversations featuring Eisner Award winners, John Jennings (Abrams Megascope) and David Walker (Bitter Root, Naomi), Afrofuturists Ytasha Womack (Afrofuturism) and Shawn Taylor (San Francisco State University), and scholars Stanford Carpenter, Ph.D. (University of Chicago) and Egyptologist Rita Lucarelli, Ph.D. (U.C. Berkeley).
The Black Comix Arts Festival (BCAF) celebrates African Americans’ creativity in the comic arts and popular visual culture and is dedicated to the notion that all audiences deserve to be subject in the culture in which we participate.
BCAF is a festival of the Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation and is part of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations in San Francisco. USA Today's editors and readers selected BCAF as one of the ten best art festivals in the U.S.
